How It Works
This is a fully remote certification program, with an optional in-person component, and takes about 3 months to complete on average.
Initial Intake

Self-Guided Modules
Kick-off the certification with 5 hours of at-your-own-pace with videos, assignments, and assessments.
1:1 Live Coaching
Live sessions will underscore key coaching principals and discussing case studies and practical components of working with youth/parents.
1:1 Live Practicum
Practical hours of live 1:1 coaching with real students; partially supervised, partially led, with feedback provided by our expert team.

Questions & Answers
The process includes everything you need to launch and run a successful youth coaching business. This encompasses self-guided learning, live sessions, practical experience with real students, and an optional in-person summit.
You’ll learn coaching best-practices for different situations, how to manage different parent dynamics, and much more.
No specific qualifications are required, but applicants must demonstrate a genuine passion for helping youth. Not everyone who applies will be accepted into the program.
The program typically takes about 3 months to complete.
The cost is $2,500 plus tax. Yes, we offer payment plans to make the financial commitment more manageable.
Yes, the program is designed to be completed part-time, during nights and weekends. Live sessions are scheduled to accommodate various schedules, making it suitable for working professionals.
Unlike other programs, our certification specifically prepares you to effectively coach youth and manage a coaching business, providing comprehensive training and support that is unparalleled in the field.
The program is led by Joel Nicholson and Derek Plewes, experienced coaches and educators with extensive backgrounds in youth development. Joel Founded Youthfully and has been youth coaching since 2010; Derek is a former teacher and Career Center Director at Brainstation.
During: You’ll have access to a dedicated success team and our experienced instructors to help you successfully complete the program.
After: Graduates receive access to our proprietary coaching platform, are invited to join a Slack community of Youthfully coaches, and receive ongoing updates and support to ensure continuous professional development.
Yes, our certification is recognized internationally as the gold standard in youth coaching.
After completing the Certification, you can expect to start your own coaching business or enhance your existing practice, equipped with advanced coaching skills, a reputable new credential, and a network of professional contacts. You’ll be well-prepared to help youth achieve their personal and professional goals.
Getting certified is the first step to getting your foot in the door to join the Youthfully coaching network, where we match you with students in our programs. However, we only have so many students to support, so we do not guarantee a job with Youthfully. With that said, the Certification will prepare you with the tools you need to acquire clients and grow your practice with or without us.
While no refunds are offered, if you miss a live component, you have the opportunity to make it up in the next cohort, ensuring you can complete your certification.
